Flagship Welfare and Education Centre

The British Hen Welfare Trust submitted a planning application earlier this year to build a flagship welfare and education centre here at Hen Central in North Devon. We found out on October 14 that the application has been approved! This is hugely exciting for the charity and is something which will transform our work.

Not only will the building be a dedicated re-homing centre and a vast improvement on our current facilities, but it will also give us the opportunity to hold training courses, lectures, talks and much more.  We will be building the centre on a piece of land next to our offices at Hope Chapel in Rose Ash.

The planning application went out to consultation and we asked our wonderful supporters to write in to North Devon Council supporting the plans. We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who took the time to write a letter – we really do appreciate it!hourglass-transparent

We are now in the process of fundraising so that we can start building the centre – and we need your help! Any donation you can make will help save even more hens from slaughter and allow us to continue our educational work.

We have so far raised £182,142 but need another £67,858 to reach our target.

If you can give anything at all please click the button below to donate via PayPal:

If you are able to #chipinforchickens we’d like to give something back to say thank you. You’ll get:

  • A personalised certificate when you donate £15
  • A personalised certificate and a supporter’s medal when you donate £50
  • A personalised certificate and a plaque at the centre when you donate £100

We also raised well over £5,000 on British Hen Welfare Day on September 23 2016, which was held specifically to raise money for our welfare and education centre. Your generosity was staggering and we were over the moon with the amount raised.

Our dream will become a reality with your continued help!
