We are delighted to inform you that we have been chosen as the British Veterinary Nursing Association’s official Charity of the Year from October 2015, and throughout 2015/6 we will be working alongside the BVNA to raise awareness and funds for our Hen Advice Line.
The more success we have in re-homing activity, the more demand there is for our support and after care service, and what was once an occasional enquiry has now become a steady stream through a range of media. With the support of the BVNA, we hope to improve our hen health advice thereby supporting the growing number of people who choose to help our lovely hens, and keep hens as pets.
Here are a few photos from our weekend at the annual BVNA Congress. Gaynor, our Head of Operations (and fully qualified Veterinary Nurse) together with Ian, our Coventry Co-ordinator, were our official representatives and had a wonderful few days meeting and greeting vet nurses, including newly appointed BVNA president, Sam Morgan, who told us why she put forward the BHWT for the Charity of the Year:
“I wanted BVNA to help promote not only the re-homing and hen health of back-yard hens, but also the aims to work with the farming industry to promote welfare for chickens. I really hope BVNA members will fall for this charity as much as I have, certainly just looking at the hen photo’s on Facebook is enough to make you smile”.
