Don't Farmers Like Hens?

FarmersMost farmers DO like their hens and many recognise that cages are not the kindest method of farming.

Every single farmer we deal with is friendly, helpful, courteous and most importantly many are willing to consider change. Several we know are currently switching production to free range, some are due to retire but remain keen to see Sons and Grandsons continue the family business and to move in step with changing trends to free range systems.

ALL of them need to have confidence in us, the consumer. Setting up free range systems requires investment of tens of thousands of pounds. Farmers need to know we will support them and that we will not abandon them in favour of cheap foreign imports where regulations and constraints are often lighter, making the egg cheaper.

The BHWT was set up to help battery hens, but to help the hens it is obvious we need to help the farmers.

WE NEED TO SUPPORT THE BRITISH FARMER TO PRODUCE
THE EGGS THAT WE WANT TO EAT.
