Hold a Free Range Friday & Raise Funds for the British Hen Welfare Trust

Enjoy cake? Love baking up lots of yummy goodies? Keen to support a small charity? If you answered yes to these then we would love to hear from you! Why not start the New Year off with that ‘feel good’ feeling and hold a Free Range Friday to support the British Hen Welfare Trust.

Free Range Friday is the perfect opportunity to don that apron, dust off those recipe books and get baking or cooking whatever takes your fancy and all using free range eggs be it sponge cake, omelettes, pancakes or ice cream! You would be surprised to see the variety of colours and sizes our free range girls produce.

Free Range Friday is the brainchild of the British Hen Welfare Trust, a national charity that educates the public about how they can make a difference to hen welfare and to make conscious efforts to buy or make foods that contain free range eggs. Jane Howorth, Founder of the British Hen Welfare Trust explains ‘Our aim with Free Range Friday is to spread the word so that people actively choose free range eggs when doing their shopping. As a nation, we care very much about welfare, and how the food we eat is produced; many people choose free – range eggs, but how many people think to check the labels of processed food like ice cream, quiche, ready meals and cakes? It is consumers who will ultimately influence welfare by the choices they make in their shopping basket.’

Supporters at home, in the office, at a local school or those part of a community group have all been busy baking and cooking up a storm for the British Hen Welfare Trust and have raised over £6,000 so far. However we still need your help to raise for funds to enable us to save more hens and to give them the peaceful, happy and free range retirement that they deserve.

So why not get together and have a big breakfast, brunch, tea time treat or a 5 course dinner safe in the knowledge that you are helping to not only save our gorgeous hens but raising awareness of hen welfare for the good of our future.
