Fundraising for the British Hen
Welfare Trust headed North in June
as 8 intrepid employees of Hatch-
ers Solicitors based in Shrewsbury,
undertook the Yorkshire Three
Peaks Challenge.
Hatchers staff voted for BHWT as
one of the charities the company
would support in 2012, and training
began in early Spring. The team
posed prior to the walk with
Beyonce, Cagney and Lacey, three
BHWT hens who enjoy a happy free-ranging life after being re-homed over
12
months ago.
All the hard work paid off as the team completed
the gruelling 25.5 mile route encompassing three
of Yorkshire’s highest hills, Pen Y Ghent,
Whernside and Ingleborough, within the
compulsory 12 hours. The successful trekkers
were lucky with good weather, and sustained only
minor injuries despite one team member, Lindsey,
sinking up to her waist in one of the stamina -
sapping areas of bog! Alongside was mascot
Beyonce the knitted hen (thanks to Fflur, who
knitted her,
and
provided her with her own walk-
ing hat and raincoat!). Beyonce the mascot even
took time out on one of the hill tops to read her
copy of
Chicken & Egg
!!
The team raised a
fabulous £811.50 and look forward to their next
challenge!
What a result!
