Social media has been part of our everyday
lives for some time now, its purpose being to
help us communicate and interact with other
people, whether they are across the room or across the other side of the
world. It isn’t just an opportunity to socialise with friends, it’s a chance to get
across information, to reach people you wouldn’t normally engage with, and to
build lasting relationships with those people, to the greater benefit of all
It was therefore a great pleasure for BHWT to have been nominated by Bing’s
users to feature as charity of the day on their homepage
on 28th September as part of their on-going Help Your Britain campaign. In
addition to the homepage featuring an inspiring image of two of our rescued
hens, the search engine also included a link to a blog post, which encapsulated
the value and endearing qualities of hens. Plus, the Help Your Britain website
features gallery images of our rescued hens and a film detailing the work that we
Bing not only provided us with an amazing platform to reach their audience of 11
million users, they also dedicated their social media channels to the British Hen
Welfare Trust reaching out to different social communities in an attempt to raise
awareness for the charity.
