Wendy Turner’s raises much needed funds

More and more of our supporters are raising funds by rolling up their sleeves, dusting off their recipe books and baking, and so far this year over £10,000 has been raised to help re-home thousands of former commercial laying hens, which have become wonderful, cheeky and endearing pets in household across the country.

A special thanks must go Wendy Turner, who runs the Cosy Coop Chicken Boarding house at Wish End Farm in East Sussex. Wendy’s Cosy Coop supporters attended a Free Range Friday back in the Autumn and raised a fabulous £75 for more hens in need. Guests enjoyed home-made cakes and a raffle, alongside a guess the name of the cake and even a pin the wattle on the cockerel! Wendy’s day was such a success that she is already planning her next Free Range Friday to be held in Spring 2016 to help more c-lucky ladies.

If you would like to take Wendy’s lead whilst helping us fulfil our vision of a free range future for all hens, why not get involved and hold your own Free Range Friday?

Please contact Fiona Lockwood at fiona.lockwood@bhwt.co.uk or call 01884 860084 to order your free fundraising pack, which includes all the materials you need to get started.

Remember – Free Range Friday donations really do make a world of difference to our lovable ladies.

And don’t forget about the FAB competition we have for you right now. Hold a Free Range Friday and send us your donation in November and you will be in with a chance to WIN a painting of your favourite hen commissioned by our very kind supporter Lesley Ann Cooper.
