The key to the coop
Celebrating our 21st birthday!
Here at the BHWT, there is always something to celebrate, from rehoming our one millionth hen to His Majesty the King, to spreading our wings across to France, and beyond! No matter who we are or where we come from, these hens never fail in bringing light and laughter into our lives and that alone is worth celebrating.
This year, on April 15th, we turn 21 and want to celebrate our coming of age with all those who have helped make our lifesaving work possible. So please, raise your glasses to this marvellous milestone, and to each and every hen who has been given her key to the coop.
To commemorate this special occasion, we’re running some exciting competitions, including the chance to WIN a £200 Fortnum & Mason voucher, and inviting you to fundraise in various ways so that even more hens can secure their keys to a happy retirement, too. Read on to find out the fun and fabulous details!
Cake is for sharing!
Do you enjoy thinking of new and fun ways to eat your hens’ yummy eggs? Then why not share your favourite cake recipe or design, and our three favourites will feature on our website and in Chicken & Egg magazine!
No-one deserves to celebrate our 21st birthday more than our feathered friends. Therefore we’d love to see some hen-friendly cake recipes, so that your hens can join in the fun too!
Deadline for submissions – 30th April (or if you would like it to be featured in Chicken & Egg, then please submit by Wednesday 11th March).
Phenomenal photos
We love nothing more than seeing photos of hens revelling in their free-range retirements, so please, share them with us! If you have a photo you think perfectly celebrates your pet hens, submit it below and be in with a chance of winning.
The winner will receive two bottles of English sparkling wine courtesy of Hambledon and Venn Valley, plus a Hotel Chocolat Easter egg.
