Their Natural Free Range Layers Crumble and Natural Free Range Layers Pellets are ideal for all hens and supply them with a balanced, highly nutritional diet. We recommend them for ex-commercial hens and they are available from our online shop.

The Happy Egg Co.
Our friends at the happy egg co. are the largest supplier of free-range eggs in the UK. Teaming up with the happy egg co. is a wonderful way to get our joint messages across to consumers and we are pleased to be working alongside such a strong and positive brand.
Here are some happy facts from the happy egg co.:
- Over 500 million eggs are laid for the happy egg co. every year!
- Their feed recipe contains marigold and paprika. And the girls love it!
- happy egg co. girls enjoy play pits.
Higgidy have been using only free-range eggs in their recipes since they first started making pies in 2003. We joined forces with Higgidy to raise awareness of the use of free-range eggs in UK food manufacturing and they are huge supporters of the work we do.
Camilla from Higgidy says:
“We’re so proud to partner with such a dedicated and inspiring team.”
“We are very careful about where we source our ingredients. Our main ingredients are all British. We place high value on animal welfare and all our eggs are always free-range. The temptation is always to rush things, to make more pies more quickly. But we are serious about giving each stage of the process – and each ingredient – the time it takes to be perfect. One of the major ingredients in a Higgidy pie is definitely time.”
“Congratulations! What an achievement to have homed so many hens, keep up the great work.”
Natures Grub is a family-run business based just outside Kings Lynn in Norfolk. They specialise in the import and supply of dried insects and insect-based pet food and have produced a range of products for poultry. All their insects and crustaceans are gamma irradiated to ensure that they are pathogen free and safe to use.
We have had many feathered happy testers who enjoy the products and have been working in partnership with Natures Grub since 2011; you will see our logo on their hen treat products. The partnership raises valuable funds towards our work and as well as awareness of laying hen welfare.

As part of the partnership we worked together to create our very own eggsclusive hen lovers mug, taken from Sophie’s popular chicken range the BHWT mug uses the classic ‘Chicken & Egg’ design with a simple message written in Sophie’s recognisable handwriting, and featuring the charity logo. You can view the very special mug here.
Together we will also be offering BHWT supporters discounts on Sophie Allport products, and the team from Sophie Allport will be supporting our official launch event for our new Hen Welfare and Education Centre.
