August 2020 sees over 225% increase in rehomings

August saw us bustling around busily again, rehoming hens all the while implementing strict COVID-19 safety measures to protect our staff, volunteers and rehomers. It was not a quiet month!

Over 4 weekends, twenty-eight pop-up rehoming centres sprang to life around the country to send home 7,500 hens!!! (Last August we rehomed 2,290). And as ever, our dedicated and tireless volunteers pitched in from Cornwall to Northumberland, collecting hens, making sure they were healthy enough to rehome and guiding the rehomers knowledgably through the rehoming entire transition process. Our Northumberland volunteer team went the extra mile by pulling together a rehoming for 500 hens in less than a week. That’s a pretty big feat but we know each of those 500 hens is grateful.

And we’re not slowing down soon… September is going to see our 500th rehoming for our pioneering Devon team! Way to go!
