Giving hens the second chance they deserve
Since 2005, we’ve helped more than one million commercial laying hens begin a new chapter after their working lives have ended. Each rehoming gives hens the chance to scratch, forage, dust bathe, stretch their wings and simply enjoy life as it should be.
But our work doesn’t stop once a hen leaves the farm.
We support owners through our Improving Pet Hen Health programme, helping ensure that pet hens receive the care and veterinary attention they deserve. We also work alongside farmers, vets, schools and organisations including DEFRA to encourage better understanding of laying hen welfare and promote positive change across the sector.
None of this would be possible without our incredible network of more than 1,400 volunteers and around 50 rehoming centres throughout the UK. Together, we’re able to help around 60,000 hens every year find loving new homes where they can enjoy a happy retirement.

The funding would support our nationwide rehoming work, helping us coordinate collections, provide advice and resources for new hen keepers, and continue developing initiatives that improve pet hen health and welfare. It would also strengthen our education and awareness work, allowing us to reach even more people with practical information about caring for hens and promoting higher welfare standards.
Every pound received would be invested in giving more hens the joyful lives they deserve.
