Hen rehomings during the COVID-19 outbreak

As the situation regarding COVID-19 continues to evolve, please be assured we are regularly reviewing the latest information and government updates to ensure our life-saving work can continue safely.

We have advised all of our staff and volunteers to follow government guidelines and take every precaution necessary to help prevent the spread of the virus. Whilst we are fully committed to finding homes for our beloved laying hens, the health and wellbeing of our staff, volunteers and rehomers is of absolute priority.

Currently, we are comfortable that our hen rehomings can continue to go ahead as planned and we are supporting our volunteer teams with advice and guidance to ensure everything continues to run smoothly. If the situation changes we will notify rehomers as soon as possible, please ensure you check your emails regularly to avoid missing an important update.

If you have booked hens and are no longer able to collect them due to self-isolation or if you have any concerns, please contact our team as soon as possible on 01884 860084 or via hens@bhwt.co.uk.

We are hopeful that we can continue sending hens on their way to new loving homes if we can all work together to do so responsibly. Thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation.

March rehomings
As it stands today (16 March 2020), hen rehoming sessions booked for the next two weekends in March will be going ahead, pending any government advice to the contrary. However, as the matter is so fast moving, we would really appreciate you keeping an eye out for our emails, just in case we need to make a last minute change.
If you are unable to collect your hens for any reason, please advise us as soon as possible by calling 01884 860084 or via hens@bhwt.co.uk.

April rehomings
We are still taking bookings for hens for April and beyond. However, these hens will be booked provisionally pending the unfolding situation. We will still ask for a donation to secure your girls, but we will be in touch closer to the time to confirm whether or not the rehoming can go ahead, we’re keeping our fingers firmly crossed that it can.

If we have to cancel a rehoming in order to protect the wellbeing of our staff, volunteers, rehomers and our hens, our team will contact you to discuss your booking and associated donation.
