SO FAR WE HAVE REHOMED HENS

About the boys

COVID-19 LATEST UPDATE

Due to the Covid-19 outbreak and the government’s latest advice we have suspended our Cockerel Lonely Hearts service. As soon as it is safe to do so we will reinstate the service and look forward to sending lots of happy boys on the way to their new homes.

All BHWT colleagues are currently working remotely however if you do have any queries about our Lonely Hearts service please email grace.moran@bhwt.co.uk

The safety and welfare of our beloved hens is, as always, a priority and we are advising all hen and cockerel owners to take extra precautions. We have unfortunately been hearing anecdotal evidence of hens being stolen from their coops due to these unprecedented circumstances. Please be vigilant with your security and keep a close eye on your flock to keep them safe.

We are thinking of all those affected by Covid-19 and those working hard to keep people safe and well.
Thank you for your understanding.

The British Hen Welfare Trust is not a sanctuary for poultry as we focus solely on rehoming end of lay commercial laying hens. However, we care about the boys too and know that many of you would like to help the unwanted chaps who deserve the chance to live with a group of hens, just as nature intended.

For this reason, we set up our Cockerel Lonely Hearts scheme to help the boys find their new flock. Whether you’re looking for a new cockerel, or you have a chap who needs to find a new home, our lonely hearts scheme is designed to send these lovely birds on their way to a safe and cosy coop.

If your girls are looking for a new fella, click here to browse the cockerels currently available for adoption.

If you have a chap who needs to wing his way to a new home, click here to add his details to our lonely hearts page. Please note all cockerels on this page should be homed free of charge.
