In the same year we rehomed our ONE MILLIONTH HEN to His Majesty the King, we are also setting our ambitions for 2025 in what will be our twentieth year.
Never a charity to rest on its laurels, we have high hopes to establish brand new rehoming sites in areas where people are itching to get their hands on hens, but we can only do it with your support.
Each team will rehome around 2,500 hens per year meaning, if we achieve our goal, an additional 15,000 hens a year will be saved from slaughter.
Why do these hens matter?
Every single one of the million hens we rehomed has gone on to further spread the word about our work. Whether she lived an additional two years or two months after being adopted, her life had so much worth.
She went from being an egg laying machine to a part of someone’s family. From commercially unviable to being loved and adored as part of a small flock, rather than just a number.
And that’s what we want for more hens.
How will my money make a difference?
Every single pound you give will be spent creating our new teams around the country, which directly results in more people being able to rehome hens.
Setting up new sites comes with a lot of costs, not least of all the crates for transporting hens, baskets for hens needing a little extra care and nail clippers so they go off to their new homes with a fresh manicure.
Some sites may even need stables putting up which naturally adds even more to our costs, and we just cannot fund all of this alone. So please, if you can, consider making a donation so that we can give hope to an extra 15,000 hens every year.
- £25 will pay for one bag of feed – feeding over 300 hens
- £50 will pay for two bedding bales – keeping over 600 hens comfortable
- £80 will cover the cost of two crates, ensuring safe transport from farms
- £200 could feed all the hens rehomed by one team in a year- that equates to 2,500 hens!
