Our free educational workshops can be delivered to schools and youth groups across the UK. The BHWT’s workshops explore elements of science and social and emotional aspects of learning, in line with the National Curriculum, alongside egg production and animal welfare. Pupils may also have to opportunity to meet some friendly ex-bat hens, and learn more about their story from farm to much-loved family pet.
A summary of the workshops we offer can be seen below. If your school is interested in holding a workshop simply fill out the form at the bottom of this page and we will be in touch soon.
Whilst our workshops are predominantly aimed at primary-aged pupils, we have run sessions for secondary groups and special schools. If you would like a workshop at your school, please get in touch with our Education Officer as we may be able to tailor a visit to suit your needs. We can also offer Hen Care Sessions for schools which keep their own hens or assemblies for the whole school.
Please note that if live hens are present, we can only offer a maximum of two workshops in one day. Each workshop lasts around one hour and the maximum number of pupils per workshop is 35.
