Forget ‘Trick or Treat’ adopt some hens this Halloween
Hubble, bubble, toil and trouble… The British Hen Welfare Trust is calling all hen lovers to step forward this Halloween to give some hens like Binky the treat of a lifetime!
The hen welfare charity, is holding a pop-up re-homing day in Allesley, Coventry on Saturday 31st October and hopes to find caring homes for ex-commercial hens just like Binky, who would otherwise be destined for slaughter.
Ian Farrar, local Co-ordinator for the charity explained, “There’s nothing spooky about our hens, they make wonderful endearing pets and soon settle into family life. If you haven’t adopted hens before, it’s incredibly rewarding and the feel-good factor in saving their lives is simply unbeatable – the supply of fresh laid eggs is just an added bonus.”
If you could give a hen like Binky a place to call home please call the BHWT re-homing team at Hen Central on 01884 860084 or visit www.bhwt.org.uk.
The British Hen Welfare Trust is a national charity that re-homes commercial laying hens, educates the public about how they can make a difference to hen welfare and encourages support for the British egg industry. Later this year the charity hopes to meet Dee, their soon to be 500,000th lucky hen – ‘D’ is 500,000 in roman numerals. You can follow their Countdown to Dee here www.bhwt.org.uk/countdowntodee.
