Cyclamen’s Story

Like any animals, hens can get sick from time to time. Less than 1% of farms birds get sick as the farmers like to keep them in good health, as this way they’re more productive. Unfortunately Cyclamen was ill but found her way to us during the rehoming where she was assessed – she couldn’t see and her eye was badly swollen and had a bad demeanour as a result. Cyclamen was taken to the vet the next day where a marble sized ball of pus from an infection was removed from her eye and a course of medication prescribed. Cyclamen’s infection cleared and she thrived and looking at her now you wouldn’t know that her eye had been so badly swollen. Twelve months on she’s thoroughly enjoying her free-range retirement and enjoyed her treat that marked one year since she joined our flock.
