With spring on the way, the evenings will be lighter and the weather will be brighter. It’s the perfect time to get those running shoes on and get training.
There are hundreds of events each year which offer you the opportunity to raise money for hens, no matter what your fitness level. We have put together a selection of runs from around the UK to help you get inspired for the year to come.
If you fancy taking a run through the cultural city of Cheltenham and the beautiful Cotswolds, then look no further than the Cheltenham Challenge, which gives you a choice of 5k, 10k or half marathon. The challenge will be taking place on Sunday, 18 June.
Up in the picturesque north of England, the Yorkshire Marathon Series offers a choice between a 10 mile run or marathon in York and surrounding countryside on Sunday, 8 October, and two half marathons in Sheffield and Leeds in April and May respectively.
Even further north, why not take part in “Scotland’s friendliest marathon” in Fort William and the Nevis Range. The Scottish Highlands offer the most spectacular scenery, and with the marathon taking place mid-summer on 30 July, you just might catch some sunshine!
At the opposite end of the country, you can enjoy the Cornish countryside at the Eden Project Marathon, or half marathon. All finishers receive the usual medal and t-shirt, alongside a pasty and a pint!
One of the most popular events is The Great Run which takes place around the country, including Bristol, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Ireland and Manchester. If you’re feeling like a new challenge, you can also swim!
Check out Endurance Life for a series of runs that take place around the UK amidst an array of stunning scenery, including the magnificent south coast of England. You can choose from a range of lengths, starting at 10k with the Ultra Plus marathon being the furthest distance at 45 miles. The Exmoor coastal route is taking place on Saturday, 8 April, but there are multiple events taking place throughout the year.
Global Adventure Challenges are introducing a new event this year, TrailFest. Taking place in both the Brecon Beacons and the Peak District, TrailFest will offer a 25k and 50k route through fantastic National Park scenery, alongside an event village with camping, shower/toilet facilities and refreshments all weekend.
If you’re a keen 5k runner and find large running events a little daunting, you may want to check out Parkrun, an organisation that arrange weekly runs at locations all over the UK. Parkrun is well known for being welcoming to all and hosting a very friendly atmosphere. Pick your location, pick your date and join in!
We hope we have provided you all with some inspiration for this season. If you have any further questions, or have decided to take on one of these fantastic challenges to raise money for hens, then please do get in touch at email@example.com. We would love to hear from you.
